Who We Are
This website, grillodigital.com, is operated by Ariel M. Hormazábal, an independent creator and author based in Chile. Grillo Digital is a transmedia project — a cyberpunk philosophical saga published as a cinematic scrollbook and serialized online.
For any privacy-related matter, Ariel M. Hormazábal acts as the sole data controller. There is no company, publisher, or third-party organization behind this site.
What Data We Collect
We only collect data that you voluntarily provide, or that is technically necessary for the site to function. Specifically:
Email address — only if you subscribe to the transmission newsletter via the signup form on this site. You are never required to provide your email to read content.
Technical data — standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, time of visit) collected automatically by the web host. This data is used solely for security and performance monitoring and is not linked to any personal profile. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in maintaining site security and performance.
Pantheon leaderboard scores — if you interact with the minigame on the /pantheon/ page, your score is stored locally in your browser. No name, email, or account is required. See Section 6 for details.
What we do NOT collect: names, physical addresses, phone numbers, payment information, social media profiles, or any sensitive personal data. We have no user account system at this time.
How We Use Your Data
Data is used only for the purpose it was collected:
- Email address: to send episode releases, Philosophical Pantheon archive updates, and transmedia drops. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link included in every email.
- Technical/server logs: to monitor site security, diagnose errors, and understand aggregate traffic patterns. Not used for profiling or advertising.
- Leaderboard scores: to display your personal score within the Pantheon minigame session. Not transmitted to any external server.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not build personal profiles.
Data Storage & Third Parties
This site is hosted via WordPress with the Divi theme. Server infrastructure is provided by the hosting provider associated with this WordPress installation. Server-level data (including access logs) is stored on their infrastructure and governed by their privacy practices. If you require the specific identity of the hosting provider for GDPR purposes, contact us at the address in Section 12.
Cloudflare — this site is served through Cloudflare's network, which acts as a reverse proxy and provides DDoS protection and performance optimization. Cloudflare may process visitor IP addresses and request metadata as part of this service. Cloudflare is a data processor acting on our behalf under their Privacy Policy and Data Processing Addendum.
Ko-fi — if you choose to support the project via ko-fi.com/grillodigital, all payment processing is handled entirely by Ko-fi. We never receive or store your payment details. Ko-fi's own Privacy Policy applies.
Email newsletter — at present, newsletter signups are processed via the form on this site. If a third-party email service is introduced in the future, this policy will be updated to reflect that and you will be informed.
International data transfers — our hosting provider and Cloudflare may operate infrastructure located outside Chile, including in the United States. Where such transfers involve personal data of EU/EEA residents, they are carried out subject to appropriate safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as approved by the European Commission, or equivalent mechanisms under applicable data protection law.
No data is transferred to advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics aggregators.
Cookies & Analytics
Current status: this site does not currently use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies beyond those set by WordPress itself for basic site functionality.
Google Search Console is connected to this site for monitoring search performance (indexing status, search queries, crawl errors). Search Console does not set cookies on visitor browsers and does not track individual users — it only provides aggregated data from Google's own index.
Future changes: if additional analytics tools or advertising systems are introduced, this policy will be updated and a cookie consent mechanism will be implemented before any such tools are activated. You will always be informed before any new tracking begins.
WordPress may set a small number of functional cookies (such as session cookies) that are strictly necessary for the site to operate. These do not track you across other websites and contain no personal information.
Leaderboard & Scores (Pantheon)
The Philosophical Pantheon page features an interactive minigame. Your score during a session is stored locally in your browser using standard browser storage (localStorage). This data:
- Never leaves your device during the current implementation.
- Is not transmitted to any external server or database.
- Is not linked to any personal identifier.
- Can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Future login system: a user account and global leaderboard system is planned for a future version. When implemented, a separate, prominent notice will be added and this policy will be updated with full details of what data is stored, how, and for how long. No account system will be activated without prior notice and updated consent mechanisms.
Your Rights
Regardless of your location, you have the following rights with respect to any personal data we hold about you:
- Right of access: you may request a copy of any data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: you may request correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure: you may request deletion of your data at any time.
- Right to object: you may object to how your data is being used.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address in Section 12. We will respond within 30 days.

Data Retention
Email addresses collected via the newsletter subscription form are retained for as long as your subscription is active. If you unsubscribe, your email will be removed from our list within 30 days.
Server log data (technical/access logs) is retained for a maximum of 90 days, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
We do not retain data longer than necessary for the purpose it was collected.
Children’s Privacy
Grillo Digital is intended for general audiences. The content — philosophical themes, existential narrative, and mature cyberpunk fiction — is directed primarily at adult readers.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal data to this site, please contact us immediately at the address in Section 12 and we will delete it promptly.
External Links
This site contains links to external websites including Ko-fi, X (Twitter), and reference sources. Once you leave grillodigital.com, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any external sites you visit.
We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of third-party websites.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time — particularly as new features (login system, analytics, third-party services) are introduced. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
For significant changes that affect how your data is used, we will provide notice via the newsletter (if you are subscribed) and update the effective date prominently.
Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

What Amazon collects: when you click an affiliate link, Amazon may set attribution cookies (e.g. session-id, ubid-main) that persist for up to 24 hours. This data is governed entirely by Amazon's Privacy Notice. Grillo Digital does not receive or store any personal data from these clicks — only an anonymized commission report if a qualifying purchase occurs.
